Shawn Mendes postpones tour to focus on mental health

Shawn Mendes has made the “heartbreaking” decision to postpone the tour for three weeks to take care of his mental health.

The Canadian singer, 23, said the decision to return to this path was “too early” and had “reached the threshold”.

Grammy Award-winning Mendes, who rose to fame with the song Stitches in 2016, had previously opened up to fans about his struggles with mental health and fame.

He wrote on Instagram: “It breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I will have to postpone the next three weeks of performing through Uncasville, CT until further notice.

He added: “After a couple of years off the road, I felt like I was ready to go back, but that decision was too soon and unfortunately the tolls and pressure caught up with me and I broke. the point.

“After speaking with my team and medical professionals, I needed to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.”

“As soon as there are more updates, I promise to let you know. Love you guys.”

It comes after Mendes admitted to fans that he felt “overwhelmed and overstimulated” but was afraid to admit it in case people “thought less of me”.
