Sheffield murder: Man dies after being found in fishpond – police make arrest

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a water rescue involving the 50-year-old man was believed to have taken place and an ambulance landed at the scene in Sheffield

A murder investigation was launched after emergency services pulled a man from a fish pond.
Police surrounded the scene and an air ambulance landed near the pond after concerns were raised for the 50-year-old in the water last night.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody, South Yorkshire Police have confirmed.
The pond in Sheffield has been sealed off and forensic officers were seen in the area this morning.
In a statement, a police spokeswoman said: “An inquest is ongoing into the death of a 50-year-old man in Sheffield.
“Emergency services were called at 9.21pm yesterday (June 16) to report a man of concern at a fishpond on Herries Road in the Shirecliffe area of Sheffield.

“The man was taken to hospital by ambulance but was unfortunately pronounced dead.
“His family has been informed.
“Today there will be an autopsy.

“A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
