Reda Khadra’s loan deal with Sheffield United has been in the works “for a while”, his new boss has revealed.

It is understood that this will become more permanent as the Blades are promoted.

Khadra is planning a debut at Watford on Monday.

Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom said: “This deal has taken a while, there have been a lot of ups and downs.

“But we managed to get him on loan which is great for us and Reda is just as excited as we are.

“We spoke to Brighton about Reda a long time ago and he was delighted.

“When he spoke to us he knew he wanted to come here and it was a case of patience whilst a deal was agreed between the clubs.

“He’s different than a lot of the players we have.

“He’s very direct by nature and has an explosive pace, which Blades fans will have noticed against us last season.”
