Sheridan Smith broke down in tears on the latest episode of Starstruck as she talked about her late father.
The mother-of-one is a judge on the ITV singing show alongside Beverley Knight, Adam Lambert and Jason Manford, and is clearly a whale of a time.
However, one contestant on Saturday night left her emotional about her father, Colin, who sadly passed away in December 2016.
In her pre-recorded VT, Kayla talks about losing her father and how she stopped singing because she was so sad.
However, she decided to go back to doing what she loved the most and transformed into Celine Dion to perform My Heart Will Go On with two other women.
When it came to the judges’ comments, Sheridan couldn’t hide her amusement as she told the trio: “Oh girls, girls, I love you!”
Sheridan continued: “God, she’s such a diva, I’m hooked on girls.
“Esther and Frankie, bang it out of the park, I love all the moves. She’s so impressive, Celine is so impressive and I love her for it, she’s on stage and you nailed it. that’s perfect, gorgeous!”
She then added: “And Kayla, okay, I can’t cry now telling you this… I lost my dad and I stopped acting because of it.”
Sheridan’s voice broke and she burst into tears as she said, “Keep doing what you love because your dad will be so proud of you, okay? And you just made him proud tonight. “
Kayla was also seen wiping away tears at Sheridan’s words and the audience applauded them both as host Olly Murs looked on sympathetically.
This is not the first time Sheridan has revealed she almost quit acting after losing her father.
As she struggles to cope with loss, she also has numerous tattoos, one saying Daddy’s Girl, This Too Shall Pass, and one saying C’est la vie.
Speaking in an interview in 2018, she said, “I’m not in a good place. My mom got mad! Maybe in my head I won’t act anymore. I’m in a small world. this madness Why should the whole world have the right to look at me?
“But then I got better and thought, ‘Oh, I’m such an idiot! Of course I’m going back to acting!” Now my makeup artist ordered a product from the US to cover the tattoos. And I wear cardigans a lot! “
Starstruck continues Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on ITV and ITV Hub.
