THE Responder star Martin Freeman may be the frontrunner in the new police drama, but he has plenty of time to kick back and relax at home.
The actor is the proud owner of a £5 million mansion – fitted with a wine cellar and landscaped gardens – located near his Sherlock co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch.
Martin, 50, took out a mortgage with royal banker Coutts & Co to buy the property in 2019, shortly after splitting with actress girlfriend Amanda Abbington.
A source said of the purchase: “Martin is a big star and his new home is an A-list property. It’s an area that is loved by movie and TV stars and he is. love it there. ”
This stunning hotel in North West London is said to have a grand winner’s cellar, perfect for entertaining guests and plenty of garden space.
Elsewhere in the house, there are plenty of cozy spots to enjoy sweeping views of the stunning surroundings, hidden from prying eyes.
There seems to be a small attic room at the top of the house, complete with a single chair to form the perfect reading nook.
Martin’s gorgeous home is just 45 years away from Sherlock co-star Benedict – but the pair haven’t always gotten along well enough to spend time together.
In 2018, Benedict called Martin “pathetic” for saying that the expectations of critics and fans had made the show “no longer fun”.
Martin, Dr. Watson on the show, has been looking for a new pad since separating from the actress Amanda Abbington47 years old in 2017 after 16 years together.
They have two children and live together in a £1.4million house in Hertfordshire. Martin has since found love again and is in a relationship with Rachel Mariam.
Martin rose to fame as the brilliant worker Tim in the BBC comedy series The Office.
Along with Sherlock, he has starred in The Hobbit and Black Panther and is currently one of Britain’s highest-paid actors, worth an estimated £20 million.
He was recently seen in the first episode of the new five-part BBC drama The Responder, where he plays Chris Carson, an active duty cop.
Viewers get to watch protagonist Chris during his night shift in Liverpool, where he’s pushed beyond the limits of his training and mental insecurities.
Viewers were delighted by the first episode and took to Twitter to praise Martin’s impressive Liverpool accent.
One person wrote: “Play fair with Martin Freeman. 5 minutes later and that’s an acceptable overkill.”
While another said: “Martin Freeman’s chit chat is so true. Non-native accents usually make my teeth itch but this is really impressive.”
This person commented: “Wow Martin Freeman, the voice is amazing – I’m impressed.”
Speaking of the role, Martin told the BBC: “When Laurence Bowen first sent me the script, he was very excited and after reading the first few pages, and I felt like this was really something else. .
“It’s not a movie written by committee, it’s Tony Schumacher unfiltered, and I really like that he puts whatever he wants on the page.
“Tony has been writing scripts for a long time but the fact that this is his first TV series means that he is far from falling into a comfortable or formulaic rut.
“He just puts on the page whatever he thinks needs to be there and that’s really interesting.”
The Respondent was first announced in February 2020, but filming was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic..
