Shirley Ballas, the lead judge on Seriously Coming to Dancing, wants Anton to stay and make it a panel of five judges, with her, Bruno, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse when the show returns for season collect
Strict judge Shirley Ballas pleaded with BBC bosses to keep Anton Du Beke on the jury when Bruno Tonioli returned to the programme.
Anton supported Bruno when the pandemic made it difficult for him to fly between the UK and the US, where he was starring in Dancing With The Stars.
Shirley wants Anton to move on and make it a panel of five judges, with her, Bruno, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, when the show returns in the fall.
“I hope Anton stays, but we could have five seats,” she said. I just did the tour with Bruno and he is very consistent and in good shape.
“There is no one like Bruno. He is a force to be reckoned with.”
Shirley is speaking at the RTS Awards, where Strictly won the Jury Prize for the selection of its first male dance couple and its first deaf contestant, winner Rose Ayling-Ellis .
This year’s lineup of professional dancers will be revealed on BBC Morning Live today, although replacements for Oti Mabuse and Aljaz Skorjanec, both of whom have made their final series of the year. 2021, is expected to be announced later.
Shirley, 61, said homegrown dancers could replace Oti and Aljaz.
She said: “There are a few people up until now that are completely off the charts. Trust me, it will be awesome.

“I won’t say any names because they are all running. There are some talents that are grown up in the country, because they are trained and they represent this country. It was a pleasure to watch. ”
She commended the departure experts, and said: “I know Aljaz very well and he has been a phenomenon on the show and so is Oti. It’s time for them to fly the barn, fly back to the nest and leave.”
Audiences will grow this year after Covid restrictions are lifted, and Shirley wants BBC bosses to drop the curtain between the judges.
“It’s going to be lovely, but we have three and a half long months to get through,” she said.
