Shocking new details emerged after a waitress saved an 11-year-old boy from abuse with a secret handwritten sign

Flaviane Carvalho was serving the defendant’s family at her Mrs Potato restaurant in Orange County, Orlando, Fla. when she realized parents Timothy Lee Wilson and Kristen Swann were treating a son differently.

The quick-thinking waitress also noticed bruises on the boy with the family of four and claimed he appeared “disconnected” from the rest of the family.

He was also the only one not eating, prompting adults to ask why no meal had been ordered for the child, who told her the boy would eat at home later.

Horrifying new details have now emerged about the parents’ abuse, including how the boy was kept away from his stepfather, mother and siblings in a hotel room used as storage, with duct tape covering the peephole.

He was also regularly deprived of food and drink for days, “tortured, maliciously punished” and subjected to military drills, prosecutors said.

They also said that according to official records, he was once hung upside down by the neck and feet from a door and once handcuffed to a transport cart on Christmas Day.

The heroic waitress Flaviane said: “I could see he had a big scratch between his eyebrows.

“A few minutes later I saw a bruise on the side of his eye. So I felt something was really wrong.”

Refusing to ignore the signs of abuse, Flaviane quickly showed him a handwritten sign that read, “Need help?” before the boy nodded gently and immediately called her 911.

The boy’s mother and Wilson’s wife, Kristen Swann, also reportedly admitted to police that they knew about the abuse and failed to secure medical care for him

Flaviane told NBC: “I was used like a tool by God to help him.

“We must pay attention to those who are in need and take a step forward to do something to change the situation.”

Police later learned that the boy’s stepfather, Wilson, had tortured the child, punished him with military drills, hung him upside down, isolated and starved him for days.

Officers recovered several items used as weapons to punish the minor – including a bent metal rod, wooden broom, trolley, handcuffs and ratchet straps.

On Monday, Wilson was found guilty of two counts of incarceration of a child under the age of 13, three counts of aggravated child abuse with a gun, four counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of child neglect.

He will be sentenced on August 19.

The boy’s mother and Wilson’s wife, Kristen Swann, also reportedly admitted to police that they knew about the abuse and failed to secure medical care for him. She was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect.
