Siemens is creating 25 jobs with a €7 million research and development group in Shannon

Siemens will establish a €7 million software research and development group in Shannon, Co. Clare.

The new R&D project in the region will focus on high-performance computing in the cloud for semiconductor design.

It will also be the first such group formed by the company’s Digital Industries Software Division worldwide.

The move is expected to create more than 25 R&D positions at Shannon over the next three years, with positions to be focused on providing cloud high-performance computing environments for Siemens.

Recruitment will begin for roles in cloud infrastructure, software development, and application security, among others.

Siemens has been present in Shannon for over 20 years, and the Digital Industries software division currently employs 150 people.

“It is excellent to see Siemens demonstrate its continued commitment to Shannon as a strategic location by locating its first software research and development facility in Ireland here,” said Martin Gennery, Senior Director, Siemens Industries Software.

“Due to Shannon’s central location in the mid-west between Limerick and Galway, it has always attracted top talent. This expansion offers the opportunity to work on the latest technologies while still benefiting from the work-life balance offered by hybrid working in the Midwest,” he added.
