Sifu reaches one million copies sold three weeks after publication

Sifu is doing pretty well. It has sold over a million copies since its release on February 8th.

The game has also seen over 10 million hours of play, and 45% of players have completed the challenging second level. Over 150,000 players have already learned enough kung fu to defeat Yang, the game’s main antagonist, and some have even reached Wude, the game’s true ending.

“We are delighted with Sifu’s welcome from both fans and press,” said Pierre Tarno, executive producer. “We wanted to create an authentic kung fu action game that pays homage to our favorite kung fu movies. We’re grateful to our fans around the world, but we’re particularly honored by the incredible response the game has received in China.

“This kind of reception in China was a way for us to understand the game’s true track record and knowing that it’s the largest segment of our sales outside of North America, coupled with the positive reviews from Chinese critics means a lot to us.”

Sifu was developed by the people who brought you the pretty excellent Absolver. The game has an interesting twist because every time you die you come back a little aged.

As you get older, you also become more skilled in combat. You begin as a young student who has spent his life seeking revenge for the murder of his entire family at the hands of a group of assassins.

Their goal is to hunt down the killers one by one through “gang-haunted suburbs, hidden corners deep in the city, and the cold corridors of corporate towers.”

Sifu is available on PlayStation systems and PC through the Epic Games Store. Sifu reaches one million copies sold three weeks after publication
