That Final Fantasy XIV Team gets to the bottom of the problems surrounding the housing lottery. In a new update, Naoki Yoshida shares the work done so far in identifying and reproducing the bug, and announces what’s coming next.
The high level of anticipation for Patch 6.1 and the Housing Lottery and ensuing mishaps has been confusing, but it appears that some have completed their purchases when they received a winner notification and others have been patiently awaiting more information regarding the process.
According to Yoshida, there was significant progress on this issue because the team was able to achieve two key goals they had set: “Reproduce the issue and investigate it further” and “Fix detected bugs.” Both are complete, and they even discovered and fixed another rare issue affecting moving between lots.
Well, where are things? Work continues on the next steps, the first being to review the fixes they have developed based on the data they have received to reproduce the bug and figure out what to do. They will do this on an internal server and check things carefully. They are currently working to review all corrections but now understand the estimate of 3 to 5 business days for this work may need to be extended to be certain. Given the importance of the issues, the team prioritizes meticulousness over speed. The other side of this process is lottery data recovery, which is also currently being worked on with the same level of care.
While patch 6.11 is scheduled to be released on Tuesday April 26th, the fixes for the lottery system will not be included in this update, but they will have a separate downtime going forward. However, they will temporarily suspend all land purchases and resettlement. This includes the winners of the last lottery. So if you’re a winner, you’ll need to complete your purchase and move before Tuesday’s update.
