Silent Hill: Images of a rumored new game appear to have been leaked – and will be quickly deleted

A well-known leaker shared four images of an alleged new Silent Hill game before they were quickly deleted by the “copyright holder” – leading many to believe they are legitimate.

Twitter user twilight golem posted the pictures before their account was banned and the pictures removed. The leaker later claimed on ResetEra that the copyright claim was made by Silent Hill’s owner Konami.

The deleted images were seen by IGN and appear to show a handful of appropriately horrific environments, including a derelict house and a spooky corridor, alongside a character model whose face peels off to reveal scraps of paper behind the skin.

Dusk Golem has previously leaked correct information, particularly regarding other Japanese horror series Resident Evil, claiming to have “more than enough evidence to believe” these images are genuine.

“I will also mention the names ‘Anita and Maya’, ‘SMS Messages’ and this is not the only silent game in development,” they added. “I know many will doubt this, but I have a lot of private evidence that this is real.”

A Silent Hill reboot has been rumored since last October, and more reports surfaced in February before flaring up again in March when Konami renewed the branding of the series.

The franchise has been dormant since 2012, apart from a very brief appearance in 2014. PT Konami released the demo to tease a new game called Silent Hills that is set to be directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, but it was canceled and out taken from the sale a few months later.

There are eight mainline games in the Silent Hill series, starting with the 1999 original (which was amazing according to IGN) and ending with 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour (which was bad according to IGN).

While Konami has renewed its branding for Silent Hill, it hasn’t been as successful in other areas, as apparently someone bought in February just to troll the publisher. The site now features a single, genuine tweet from Masahiro Ito, art director of Silent Hill 2 and 3, who said he regrets designing the series’ iconic villain Pyramid Head.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelancer who occasionally thinks about tweeting @thelastdinsdale. He’ll be talking about The Witcher all day. Silent Hill: Images of a rumored new game appear to have been leaked – and will be quickly deleted
