Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell hands over the golden bell

Simon Cowell says there’s been less professional repertoire at this year’s Britain’s Got Talent amid the “fix” of the yellow whistle.

The referee has defended the ITV show he helped mastermind after some viewers said it was “unfair” that professional singer Loren Allred was sent straight to the live finalists.

Fans accused the show of being a “fix” after they discovered that the American-born singer Loren was actually the voice behind The Greatest Showman’s Never Enough.

Simon told Sun : “This year, there are fewer professionals, which is where we started the program years ago.

“We start by opening the door to anyone regardless of their day job or the hidden talent they want to show the world,” he continued.

“This is the place to do it and thank god it’s the show that’s been developed into it. We don’t really have any rules about it.”

As well as Loren, 31, Simon caused a stir when he honked for award-winning comedian Axel Blake.

Simon was struck by the comic, 33, who joked about the pandemic and his pregnant girlfriend – but some viewers went wild.

One person vented: “So last night there was a golden bell for a singer with a net worth of 2 million and a song from one of the greatest movies that ever existed and the golden bell of the night now an award winning comedian has best show on amazon ???wtf is going on this series?”

Another said: “Feeling fed up with professionals getting golden bells now,” another said.

“What a waste the yellow whistle!” a fuming person on twitter.

“Bloke is adorable but not funny,” a second added.

Adding to the line of corrections, some keen-eyed viewers believe that one of the auditions was a “fake”.

Audience members Nick Edwards was stunned after their daughters Savannah, three, and Cali, four, popped up on stage in their spokes hats.

The father-of-two said he thought the whole family went there to see the show, but his mother said he had a “lovely voice” and motioned for him to come up on stage.

But skeptical viewers discovered that Nick was wearing a microphone.

As his daughters took to the stage, Nick said: “You’re joking. That’s my mom, you’re joking.”

His mother later revealed to the audience: “Well, Nick doesn’t know a thing about it and we surprised him because we wanted him to come and sing because he sang a song worth singing. love for girls.”
