Nightbirde wowed the judges of America’s Got Talent 2021

Simon Cowell has revealed that America’s Got Talent will pay tribute to former contestant Jane ‘Nightbirde’ Marczewski, who passed away at the age of 31 in February following a battle with cancer.

The singer-songwriter auditioned for Cowell’s NBC show in 2021 and received a Golden Buzzer Award for her original song “It’s OK.”

She then withdrew from the competition on the eve of the live quarterfinals because of her worsening illness, which spread to her lungs, spine and liver.

The Ohio-born musician was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, before being fully informed a year later. However, it did recur in 2019, with ‘Nightbirde’ having a lifespan of three to six months. The second bout was completely apparent after that though before the third bout was diagnosed shortly before filming started.

Describing his death as “unfair”, 62-year-old Cowell said that Marczewski, who possessed a beautiful voice, would be given special mention during the live shows.

The main judge and showrunner added that he is still figuring out how the honors show will work, however, when episode 17 of the talent show airs this summer.

Cowell admitted, “I think we should do something special on the live shows. Because it’s no wonder we got the news, even though, you know, the last time I saw you. she, she is also very weak, she is very optimistic, talk to me about her music.

“She came to the house and I was like, you don’t know. You just don’t know. And when I heard the news, it’s unfair, she’s really a nice person, very talented. And she told me, you. And then she, you know, I’m going to do it. And she said, the great thing is that millions of people have listened to my music.

“And that was a really big thing for her. And then it was all taken away from her. Life is so unfair.”

Jane Macrzewski, who has performed under the stage name Nightbirde on AGT, has made headlines on social media after competing on the talent show’s 16th season.
