Simon Cowell has given an update on his health following a series of horrific falls, ahead of his return to Britain’s Got Talent.
The music mogul will return to big screens across the country on Saturday, April 16, as ITV’s new talent show series kicks off after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During that time, Simon fell twice, when he broke his back on an e-bike in Los Angeles and 18 months later, broke his arm in a fall near his home in west London.
However, ahead of the new series, Simon says he’s doing a lot of repairs.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, he joked about his injury portfolio, as he shared: “I’ve fallen on a lot of things too. I fell in my car in London, not my fault, it was raining. – and it’s a sharp bend.”
Amanda later said of the cast on her arm: “But this is an old wound.”
“This is an old wound! The long cast has come off, as my bones are healing I have to wear this for a few more weeks. It’s almost fine”, Simon finished and explained why he re-cast on his hands at the end of the year.
It comes after a source revealed to The Mirror that Simon has decided to reduce his workload a bit, spurred on by his bike accident and the pandemic, and wants to spend more time for his family.
“He doesn’t want to work at that pace anymore. Back injury from a bicycle accident in 2020 and the pandemic has forced him to refocus his life and at 62, Simon knows he won’t be young anymore. “, shared one insider.
“The days of working until 3 a.m. and constantly on the phone looking for deals are gone forever. Someone like Simon would be hard to give up and not work but for him it was like a kind of semi-annual retirement.”
The source added: “He won’t be working every day and will be more selective about his work in the future.”
Simon’s two injuries both involved an e-bike, but he was fortunately not injured in the second crash.
A source shared: “Simon was on an electric bike with an electric motor when the bike skidded on a wet track. He flew over the handlebars into the middle of the road and was lucky to be alive. He was wearing a helmet. There was blood. came out of his face but was fortunately helped by passersby. He was taken to the hospital and an X-ray showed he had a broken arm.”
