His famous mother has been comforted by family and close friends over the past 10 days.

And today Sinead reveals that she has been with her best friend since the funeral and smokes cigarettes as they reminisce about the teenage boy, whose father is folk musician Donal Lunny.

She also revealed that she had kept an empty spot on the dinner table for Shane.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer tweeted: “I’m staying with my best girlfriend. Been with her since the funeral. We are smoking too many fags (cigarettes) and reminiscing a lot about my Babba.

“We have a permanent place set on the dinner table for him with a candle and incense. He is very present. He loves.”

She also shared a response to a friend of Shane, who had previously met him at the Linn Dara youth mental health facility.

The girl said: “Hi, I had the honor to get to know Shane while I was at Lnn Dara with him for a month or so. He always wanted to see people happy before him.

“I miss him so much. May his gentle soul rest in peace and enjoy his pleasures up there just as he did here. “

Sinead responded by saying, “Shane told me about you. Great to hear from you. I hope you are doing well.

“Thank you so much for contacting me. Take good care of yourself. Xxx. ”

Speaking after Shane’s funeral earlier this month, Sinead described her son’s farewell as “very lovely”.
