Singer Mark Feehily missed the Westlife show because of pneumonia

Singer Mark Feehily has said he will miss some upcoming Westlife performances due to pneumonia.

he, 42, will perform with Irish boy band members Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan as part of their The Wild Dreams Tour 2022.

Feehily missed performances at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on Friday and Saturday.

Westlife also has upcoming gigs in Sheffield at the Utilita Arena on Monday, the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Wednesday and the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Saturday and Sunday.

In an Instagram post on Monday, the Feehily account said: “Hi all fans, it’s Mark!

“First of all, I would like to sincerely thank everyone for sending messages of love and wishing you well soon – it means a lot.

“I’m really sorry to miss the Newcastle weekend shows but I started feeling unwell on Friday and the doctors confirmed it was an episode of pneumonia.

“I know you were scared when you first heard the word ‘pneumonia,’ but luckily, I rushed to the doctor and hospital and got antibiotics as soon as possible. So everything is under control now.

“I was told that the fastest way to recover was to rest and continue on antibiotics. I feel a little better every day. The nurses and doctors are taking great care of me, so it will be over soon.

“However, this doesn’t mean missing out on more gigs, it’s horrible, but I’ll be back on stage as soon as I can get the hang of it.

“Until then, Nicky, Shane and Kian will continue to raise the Westlife flag for all of us. Shout out louder than usual to those three legends in my absence.

They disbanded in 2012 after 14 successful years, but reunited in 2018 without McFadden, who left the band in 2004.
