Sir Ian McKellen is starring in ‘Mother Goose’, which opens in Brighton

ONE of Britain’s greatest actors on stage and screen will star in a new ‘egg quotes’ pantomime which opens in Brighton.

Sir Ian McKellen brings Mother Goose to the Theater Royal Brighton in time for Christmas.

John Bishop and Mel Giedroyc will also appear in pantomime.

The theater has not shown a production of this type since 2014.

The show runs from Saturday 3rd December to Sunday 11th December.

The production is also making guest appearances at the Duke of York’s Theatre, London, Liverpool Empire and New Theater Oxford.

McKellen’s last pantomime appearance was at the Old Vic where he played Widow Twankey in Alladin.

The award-winning actor, best known for his Shakespearean performances and his role as Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings, announced the news in front of a giant golden egg in London.

“Panto is ours. Nowhere else in the world does this tradition exist,” he said. Sir Ian McKellen is starring in ‘Mother Goose’, which opens in Brighton
