Sir Ian McKellen says intimate moderators can ruin theater’s ‘purity’
Sir Ian McKellen says having intimate coordinators trained on set can affect the “purity” of theatrical productions.
He is a veteran of the stage and screen who says that in the early stages of his career, the problems that need such coordinators will “take care of themselves”.

Listing several production roles, including lighting and sound designer as well as dialect coach, he points to intimate coordinators.

“But why can’t the director do it? Why does it have to be someone who has been trained in how to do it?
He continued: “This is a big change and it’s been a bit difficult for me, because with all these names of people doing all the jobs that previously seemed like they had to do it on their own. take care of yourself, you won’t see any other actors than the ones you saw in the play that night because they weren’t employed for long.”

He went on to say that he prefers the “pure” of a production process where “as few people get in the way as possible.”
It follows comments by Sir Ian’s Lord Of The Rings co-star Sean Bean, who said intimate professionals can “damage the spontaneity” of sex scenes, which have been criticized by female members of the industry criticized.
