As a vegetarian, I often find that eating out can be a very frustrating experience.
When choices are few, it can be difficult to find something you like, especially on a fixed menu.
However when my partner and I tried The Argus’ dine for £15 deal at Six on Western Road in Hove I have to say we had no such problems.
We were pleasantly surprised by the number of vegetarian options on the menu. While I ordered bread and olives, she ordered the tomato soup, one of two soups of the day that included a vegetarian and a meaty option.
The olives had a lovely blend of flavors, with the sweetness of sundried tomatoes mixed with the bland olives, all laced together with a balsamic dressing.
My partner described the soup as “very light” with “rich tomato flavor,” and the fresh bread that accompanied both dishes was particularly tasty.
For our main course we ordered the linguine and a tomato and arugula salad and the restaurant was happy to supply the salad without the bacon to make the meal vegetarian.
Simply put, the fresh linguine was some of the best pasta we’ve ever had. The mix of garlic, mushrooms and truffles made a lovely creamy sauce and blew us both away.
The salad didn’t disappoint either. A blend of green and red tomatoes provided a sweetness balanced with the spiciness of the pomegranate seeds, and it had lovely textures that came from the pomegranate and walnuts. I found it to be a light dish that complemented my starter of bread and olives well.
Overall the food was delicious and we found the menu and staff particularly accommodating and helpful. While eating out can be frustrating as a vegetarian, at Six and for only £15 each, we didn’t feel like eating there again.
For your chance to dine out for £15, just keep an eye out for the vouchers, which are appearing at The Argus on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the end of November.
