Over the past few years, make up We wear it, and the way we apply it, has changed a lot.

Back in the day, you used to take 3 shades of Dream Matte Mousse that are too bold and apply them all over your face with your fingers – before applying a little concealer on your lips to complete the look.

Today, makeup lovers paint, contour, bake, and create faces using around 500 different sponges and brushes along the way. That’s a lot of work.

But, while today’s cosmetologists may look back on the days when we applied foundation with our fingers and shuddered, according to one skincare expert, we did just that.

Skincare expert Laura Andrews states that the best way to apply foundation is with your fingers, as applying product with a brush can cause skin irritation and redness.

“The natural warmth of your hands makes it easier to blend foundation with your fingers than using a brush when applying,” says Laura. Sun.

“The brush can tug at the skin and cause friction, which can often lead to more sensitivity and redness.”

Not only that, the expert insists we should also use our digits when it comes to concealer, using our ring fingers to “tap very lightly” to reduce drag in the sensitive eye area.

When applying products like eyeliner, Laura cautions that we should avoid pulling too hard on the skin around the eyes. Instead, she suggests using a gel or liquid primer that “gently glides over the skin.”
