Sky added a brand new widget to its media store, allowing all customers to stream its service without the need for satellite dishes or Sky Glass TV.

The Sky Stream puck will be available as a standalone device and allow users to enjoy the Sky Glass experience – including live TV and on-demand apps – over Wi-Fi.

Previously, only customers with Sky’s new all-in-one TV could watch and subscribe to Sky channels without the need for a satellite dish or Sky box. However, the broadcaster has rolled out the Sky Stream puck to allow those without a Glass TV to upgrade their home entertainment setup.

This package is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy all the latest entertainment on Sky TV and Netflix in one place. It is offered on an 18-month contract and has a £20 setup fee.

It will position Sky against the likes of Amazon Fire TV stick, Apple TV and Roku.

Sky has yet to reveal the price of the Sky Stream puck as the device will be released later this year.

If you want to watch Sky channels over broadband, but don’t want to wait for the show to launch, you can choose Sky Glass TV. It’s currently the only TV built with Sky, which means users can stream all the channels, shows and apps the service has to offer over WiFi without discs or wires.
