A Sky Q mini box is part of the kit that Sky offers alongside the Sky Q main box.

It allows users to extend their sky view to other rooms in the house.

But one Sky Q Mini user said he “never” had a stable WiFi connection between the Mini and the main box – even though the main box was connected to their router.

“I keep getting the ‘connection problems’ warning on the minis, so to fix it I have to unplug the minis and wait a few seconds before plugging them back in and waiting for them to charge again,” she wrote in a forum.

“I’m at the point now where I’m in the process of running network cables to the minis to hopefully fix the issues once and for all.”

A tech expert advised the confused user to access the hidden Q-Box menu.

But first, users need to connect their boxes to the ethernet, and then turn off all Q-Box WiFis.

“Start with the main Q-Box and do a network reset with the ethernet attached first,” they explained.

Network Reset is located in the Q-Box home > settings > Put up > network.

Then highlight status and select Reset to default On the right side.

Choose the option to connect to a non-Sky router with a wired connection or a Sky router if the user is using Sky Broadband.

“Don’t do WPS and just wait for the box to connect,” they added.

“It may take a few minutes. If no connection is established, there is a problem with the Ethernet connection.

“Once connected, go into the Q-Box’s hidden menu and turn off WiFi.”

Then it’s time for the magic menu.

Access is via the remote control by clicking home > settings > and press 0 0 1 > Choose.

Next, go to Network to turn off both WiFi bands.

The expert explained: “Repeat the network reset on any minis in the mini home menu with ethernet connected.

“Once connected, go into the hidden mini-menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both WiFi bands. Confirm before exiting.”
