As with any farming game, there are numerous ways to maximize profits and picking the best ones can be difficult.

Here are our tips on getting the most out of the early game, which slimes to focus on, and how to set yourself up for success.

Adjust the difficulty settings

As this is a family-friendly game, there are a number of options to make the game more accessible to younger players.

You can disable both tar and feral slime so you don’t have to worry about fending them off lest your farm become corrupted.

Combat also has an adjustable slider. You can limit the damage you take in battles, which makes the game easier.

Explore the world at different times

Exploring the world is one of the most important parts of Slime Rancher 2.

How to find the game’s story and find new slimes, food and resources for your farm.

Make sure you explore the world both day and night.

Some slimes do not appear during the day, and while these slimes are more dangerous to collect, they also produce more valuable plorts.

Make sure to feed the Gordo slimes

Giant slimes on the starting island seem impossible to collect, but there is a way.

These Gordo Slimes need to be fed. Do this over and over again and eventually they will explode.

Not only can you then pick up the smaller slimes it leaves behind, but it will also reveal a secret path to explore.

Make your slimes want to stay

Keeping your slimes on your farm is one of the hardest parts of Slime Rancher 2.

You can upgrade your corals to hold back your slimes, but keeping them happy is the easiest way to keep them in place.

When slimes are hungry, they can jump right out of your coral.

Feed them regularly and install a music player in their coral to keep them entertained.

Feed them their favorite foods

Like real animals, different slimes like to eat different types of food.

If you feed a slime its favorite food, it will produce twice as many plorts, doubling your profit.

They may not always have it on hand, but keep that in mind and feed them their pets when you can.

Collect Phosphorus Slime as quickly as possible

While Pink and Cotton Slimes are easy to get, the real money comes from collecting Phosphorus Slimes.

They only spawn at night (see tip 2) and need a coral with double height walls, an air mesh and sun protection, but it’s worth it.

If you don’t build their habitat this way, they will die as soon as the sun comes up.

You can also keep them in the cave expansion, but that’s a little later.

Create and maintain Largo slimes

Creating Largo Slimes is the easiest way to generate profits and it is easy to do.

Feed a normal slime a plort of a different type of slime and it becomes a largo slime, inheriting the nutrition and plorts of both types of slime.

Be careful not to feed them a third type of plort as this will spoil the largo slime which will turn into a tar slime.

If you don’t feed your Largo Slimes well, they can also become wild. Be sure to feed these slimes often.

Sell plot in cycles at the best prices

You cannot afford to farm just one type of plort as the prices of each plort rise and fall with the market.

If you sell too much of one variety, the market will flood and prices will plummet.

You can sell a large batch of one type of Plort, but then it’s best to wait a while before selling it again.

Sell Plort in cycles so you never have to deal with a price drop.

Optimize don’t zoom in

While expanding your farm is tempting, you might want to wait before making any big purchases.

These are expensive and you have quite a bit of space to start your farm.

Spend your money in the beginning to optimize the available space before you focus on expansion.

Upgrade your gear whenever possible

You’ll find that your standard gear quickly falls below par as you explore the world.

There is a wide variety of tools that can be created to make your job of ranching slimes easier.

You’ll be able to harvest more minerals, hold more stuff, and have more health and energy.

There are even new ways to traverse the map, making your job even easier.
