Bamburgh, Northumberland, edged out bigger rivals Dartmouth and Tenby to score 87 points from 100 – two more than in 2021. St Andrews in Fife finished third with 84 points

A tiny village with a majestic castle has been voted Britain’s best beach resort for the second year running.
With just 454 residents, Bamburgh, Northumberland, has beaten out larger rivals Dartmouth and Tenby by 87 points from 100 – two more than in 2021.
Holidaymakers lavished it with five stars for its stunning scenery, stunning seafront promenade and tranquility.
The poll was conducted for which? It said: “Bamburgh again proved unbeatable for its sheer beauty, with its sweeping sandy beach overlooked by a cliff-top castle.”
Budget-friendly Llandudno, North Wales, where rooms average £95 a night compared to £127 in Bamburgh, came second with 86.

Holidaymakers praised the “unparalleled” views from the Great Orme headland and down-to-earth prices.
Posh St Andrews in Fife, where rooms cost £225 a night, came third with 84.
The spiritual home of golf and the university town where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge studied was rated as prime for scenery and won four stars for food, drink and shopping.
Which? said its “scenic streets and historical sites” are “a testament to its successful blend of sport, culture, sand and sea”.
There was no change at the bottom of the table either, as Skegness, Lincs finished bottom for the third straight year with a score of just 49.
