Snapchat confirms it will start charging users once monthly subscription fee plans are announced

SNAPCHAT is the latest social platform to jump on the subscription train to turn tide.
The app introduces a premium offering called Snapchat+ that comes with special features.
For $3.99/£3.99 per month, subscribers can access exclusive and experimental extras.
It comes as Snapchat recently reported poor sales and earnings after a “challenging” quarter.
The app is desperately trying to stop relying on ads to generate profits.
It’s also struggling to compete with the power of TikTok and Instagram.
Snapchat+ will initially launch in the UK, US and seven other countries.
“This subscription will allow us to bring new Snapchat features and prioritized support to some of the most passionate members of our community,” the company announced.
Those who are not willing to pay can continue to use Snapchat as usual.
So far there doesn’t seem to be much in it.
According to that edgethe extras are mostly cosmetic.
This includes the ability to change the style of the app icon.
You can also see who has viewed a story more than once.
And there is an option to pin a bestie to the top of your chats as a BFF.
