Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson will host the 2022 Emmy Awards, it has been announced.
The US comedian said the prospect of taking on duties is “ridiculously exciting” ahead of next month’s annual event.
The 74th Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, September 12 on NBC.
“To be a part of this incredible evening where we honor the best in the television community is insanely exciting, and doing it on NBC, my longtime network family, makes it even more special,” Thompson said in a statement, US media was transmitted.
“Like all TV fans, I can’t wait to see the stars of my favorite shows.”
British talent did well in the nominations for the awards announced last month, with several big British names nominated.
Colin Firth and Jodie Comer were among those receiving top honors at the ceremony, hosted by the US Television Academy, which recognizes the best in television.
British award winner Adele also received a nomination in the Outstanding Variety Special (pre-recorded) category for her show One Night Only, giving her another shot at that coveted EGOT status.
Actors JB Smoove and Melissa Fumero announced the nominations in a virtual ceremony.
