Soap fans are raving as the new soap schedule goes into effect tonight, while the three main soaps reach their climactic moments in their storylines.
With the battle officially underway between EastEnders and Emmerdale, tonight sees Emmerdale switch from its usual 7pm slot to 7:30pm – placing it in direct competition with EastEnders, which airs at the same time on competitor channel BBC One.
With the massive storylines appearing in those two big movies, fans are confused by the schedule and not sure how to watch their favorite shows – forced to choose a side and watch a side when the show broadcast and the other is being updated.
EastEnders will see Gray’s storyline ramp up while some of the main characters break out of the much-loved series, while Emmerdale is gearing up for a massive backstory featuring the evil Meena.

Having to choose between soaps is a feat that has been told, with many fans going wild over the clash.
One fuming soap fan took to Twitter to express her disappointment at the new schedule, writing: “Don’t watch itv now they’ve made the soap conflict, my son won’t be happy for love its like Emmerdale and mine is EastEnders, don’ I don’t catch up so I’ll be off!!! Thanks ITV! TV has cr*p enough already, and is getting worse!”
She then directly tweeted to the Coronation Street Twitter account and added: “The new time sucks! Now Emmerdale clash with EastEnders, and I don’t miss that. There’s nothing wrong with the timing. initially, some people didn’t have the option to catch up, it’s too bad now we’re only getting 20 minutes of EE, #itviscrap #turningoff.”
Another said: “I really don’t understand why #ITV gives us another 30 million news every evening and messes with the # sites. I don’t need 30 million more sad news so I’ll don’t follow but watch #Netflix #AmazonPrime just do my face wash! #Emmerdale #Corrie #Eastenders.”

This comes as Coronation Street will move to 8pm for an hour-long episode on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Emmerdale and EastEnders will air at the same time four days a week, with ITV broadcasting an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
However, EastEnders will not air on Fridays after adding an episode on Wednesday.
