PLANS to install solar panels on village halls around Rother are due to be put to council leaders next month.
At their next meeting on 5 September, Rother District Council’s cabinet will discuss a project seeking up to £500,000 to install PV panels on the roofs of village halls across the district.
The project aims to reduce emissions from these buildings by reducing oil and gas energy consumption, but could potentially result in some excess energy being fed back into the national grid.

According to the meeting papers, 40 suitable venues have been identified within the district, of which 37 have already expressed interest in participating in the project.
If cabinet members get the support, the spending plans will go to a full council meeting for final approval at a later date.
If approved in a full Council vote, it is understood the £500,000 would come from earmarked Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding.
