Sons of the Forest postponed to October

Forest developer Endnight Games has announced that the sequel Sons of the Forest has been pushed back to October.

Endnight Games announced a May 2022 release date last November, but admitted in a tweet that the team had been overly ambitious when it came to the game’s progression.

“In order to realize our vision of the next step in survival games, we have decided to push back our release date to October 2022,” it said.

First announced in December 2019, the game promises more of the terrifying open-world survival horror that the first game was known for. Sons of the Forest will once again leave players empty-handed on a spooky island where they must forage, craft and build to ensure their own survival.

Endnight Games has otherwise remained fairly quiet, although it has shown a few gameplay shards in the various trailers that have been released since the announcement.

In our 8/10 review of the first game, IGN said, “I’ve never been more terrorized, stalked, or mesmerized by enemy AI than in The Forest. It’s a harrowing test of survival that knows how to play with suspense and create the feel of a real world with complex inner workings and mysteries that I was keen to discover.”
