Sony details the PSVR2 and VR2 Sense controllers, claiming it is the “next generation of VR gaming”

Sony Interactive Entertainment finally fully announced its next-gen VR headset at CES 2022, giving consumers their first look at PlayStation VR2 lesson.

During the press conference, Sony revealed more details about the PS5 controller, including information about the controller you will use to navigate your way around the new VR setup, a title New is designed specifically for hardware and – perhaps most importantly – specifications. Interestingly, an article on Blog PlayStation also note that the PSVR 2 will have an extremely simple setup, requiring only a single cable to connect it directly to the PS5 console (much easier than the previous model).

PSVR2 will feature 4K HDR, 110-degree field of view images with incredible rendering capabilities. These optical improvements will be graded through an OLED display inside the headset, which will offer a resolution of 2000×2040 per eye, with a frame rate of 90/120hz. This is even better for players who often feel a little sick during virtual reality sessions.

The headset includes inside-out tracking thanks to built-in cameras built into the headset, so there’s no need for an external camera to ‘anchor’ you while you’re playing. The headset will also be able to track your eyes and react to where you’re looking, making things smoother for you to play with and offsetting some of the famous VR nausea (in theory).

PSVR2 will also fuel Sony’s experimentation in the 3D audio space. A new feature-heavy headset, which it notes features “a new sensory feature that amplifies the feel of in-game actions from players”. The aim is to make things more immersive; Boost adrenaline during tense moments by pumping your character’s pulse through you. That is a good thing. And it will be achieved through the motor built into the headset itself. Curious.

At CES, Sony also announced one of the first new games confirmed to run on the next-gen headset: The calling horizon of the mountain, a spin-off from the Hoirzon series of films being co-developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite Games (whom PlayStation acquired last September).

No specifics have been released about Call of the Mountian: all we know is that it’s “built specifically for PSVR2 and will open the door for players to dive deeper into the world of Horizon .”

Next, there’s the PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller, that we already know a little about. These new inputs will provide haptic feedback – a trademark feature available in the DualSense controllers.

It is worth noting that a lot of information is revealed here regarding a report appeared on the internet last year, claiming that PSVR 2 will arrive in holiday 2022, and will use OLED panels. Sony has yet to release a release for the hardware, but if this rumor is anything to go by, it should be in our hands by Christmas.
