Sony stops stacking PlayStation Now to protect its new premium service

Sony has updated their PlayStation Plus FAQ page (hidden below). here) and continues to crack down on loopholes that gave users early discounts on the upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium service. It’s also pausing the activation of PlayStation Plus and Now vouchers for current subscribers until the new service launches in June, and there’s even an official conversion chart showing the value of those vouchers across the upcoming three services; PlayStation Plus Essentials, Extra and Premium.

After Sony announced its plan to restructure PlayStation Plus into a new three-tier ministry compete with the services of Microsoft and Nintendo, things have been a bit vague about how the transition to the new tiers will work. Users began stacking up prepaid subscriptions to PlayStation Now, Sony’s cloud streaming service, on consoles and PCs in hopes that the $59.99-a-year service would be rolled over into the upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium service $119.99 per year would convert. Sony was quick to discourage many people from taking advantage of this discount, but it couldn’t stop people from buying and redeeming the cards something Kind of service – and these remaining PS Now voucher cards will get you at least a partial PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.

At least they will start in June. Sony is now stopping many people from redeeming prepaid vouchers until after the PS Plus relaunch. Only users who do not already have a subscription can redeem a one, three or twelve month prepaid card still available from many retailers (also direct by Sony).

What happens if you have a prepaid voucher in June? Well, it’s still worth redeeming them once you’re able to. Sony created this helpful chart to explain how much they’re worth when switching to the new service. While you’re not buying a month of PlayStation Plus Premium for a month of PlayStation Now, according to Sony, you still get “the length of time equal to the monetary value of your original voucher.

did I say helpful? I meant terrible. But so was Sony’s announcement of its new PS Plus service full of confusion, so also the previous communication of conversions. Hopefully the next new information from Sony will be the full list of games accessible with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium so people have a clearer idea why These new levels are worth a subscription.
