Steven Van Zandt is paying tribute to late actor Tony Sirico, who portrayed bandit Paulie “Walnut” Gualtieri menacingly on Sopranos.
Van Zandt, who played Silvio Dante in the HBO classic, took to social media to pay tribute Sopranos and Lilyhammer co-star passed away on Friday (July 8) at the age of 79.

Silvio’s best friend ‘Paulie Walnuts’ in The Sopranos, brother of Frankie ‘The Fixer’ Antonino ‘Father Tony’ Tagliano in Lilyhammer, “actor and musician tweeted along with a photo of the couple. “A larger-than-life character on and off screen. Will miss you so much my friends. My deepest condolences to the family. “
Sirico passed away at an assisted living facility in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., according to his manager Bob McGowan of 25 years, The Hollywood Reporter report. The cause of death was not revealed, but the actor has suffered from dementia in recent years.
Sirico is also known for his roles in movies like Goodfellas, Cop Land and Mickey Blue Eyesas well as television roles including Miami Vice, Chuck, Average, Taxi Brooklyn and Grinder. He also contributed his recognizable voice in episodes of Family boy and American Father!
