Spain holiday warning due to rental car shortage
UK tourists heading to Spain for a summer holiday might have trouble finding a rental car.
Holidaymakers are advised to book well in advance, due to a lack of available cars in Spain and 58 percent price increase since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The shortage of cars is partly due to rental companies selling vehicles that weren’t needed during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the tourism industry ground to a halt.
These companies are now struggling to buy new vehicles because a Semiconductor shortages that have caused automakers to slow new car production.
Furthermore Which? report trips that rental car prices are increasing across Europe, with Spain and Portugal being the countries with the biggest price increases.
They found that in 2021 these tourists those who booked their August rental in July paid 26% more Book early in May.
The added risk last year was that in August Many car rental companies were completely sold outwith demand expected to be even higher in 2022 with many families going on their first post-Covid summer vacation.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that the continued rise in fuel prices this summer could hit tourists’ pockets if they choose to rent a car while on vacation.

Rory Boland from which one? told The times: “There is certainly external pressure on holiday companies this year that will lead to this some cost increases, and these are acute in areas like car rental.
“Rising rents could be particularly unwelcome for families already grappling with the cost-of-living crisis.”
