Inside a spooky “time capsule” nursing home that has remained untouched for 20 years

An urban explorer has shared footage of his adventures in a creepy “time capsule” nursing home, where he claims to have heard spooky slippers sliding down the empty corridors.

Sonny, from the US, visited the site with his girlfriend last year and described the five-hour trip as “like something out of a horror movie”.

The 25-year-old has chosen to keep the exact location of the abandoned property secret to avoid possible vandalism, but is believed to have been left to decay around 20 years ago.

Despite the years’ decay, beds are still made as if patients could return there, while medical supplies, wheelchairs, and alarm clocks have been found strewn about the long-abandoned rooms.

The facility is believed to have first opened in the 1970s and later closed due to bankruptcy in the 2000s.

The 1970s-era bathtubs and wall tiles are now covered in dirt and mold, while pots and pans in the commercial-style kitchen are now covered in limescale. Dated floral seats still fill the waiting room, whose windows have long since rotted away.

In a way, however, it seems like no time has passed at all, with duvets and pillows positioned as if the residents had recently gotten out of their beds.

Sonny, who goes by the TikTok username @xplorewithsonny, said: “When I visit these places they feel warm and welcoming, but they also have a dark side.

“To be honest, it’s a feeling I don’t explore anywhere else. Some hallways were riddled with black mold and water damage, while others looked untouched for years.

“There have been a few times where I have ventured alone through seemingly endless hallways. I remember hearing the distinct sound of slippers sliding across the floor. I stopped to listen and heard silence. It was like something out of a horror movie. It still accompanies me to this day.”

He continued: “The building didn’t seem very big from the outside, but inside there was a maze of hallways and rooms around every corner.

“There must have been over 50 patient rooms, not to mention lounges and other things. This place definitely had some energy left.

“You have to imagine how many people passed through this place. He’s seen life and death and all sorts of emotions.”

Sonny has since shared footage of his exploration with his 1.1 million followers on TikTok, where his videos have garnered nearly two million views.

His followers shuddered after watching the haunting footage, with one alarmed individual asking: “Why aren’t you scared? [sic].”

Another claimed to have seen a chair move on its own, while a third trembled: “Dude how are you not dead yet after exploring many abandoned places?”
