St Leonards Incident: Bullets and parts of a firearm found at the scene

Bullets were recovered at the scene of an armed incident, police confirmed.

Empty laps have been found on Theaklen Drive in St Leonards as detectives continue to investigate reports of gunshots being fired at a vehicle last night.

Officers also found parts of a firearm in the area, which are being forensically examined.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident with a firearm confiscated by police.

For the Hollington area of ​​St Leonards, a Section 60 order remains in effect tonight, giving officers the power to search people in the area.

Detective Superintendent Till Sanderson said: “No one was hurt or injured in the incident and this remains a fast-moving investigation as we seek to better understand what happened and who was involved.

“Today a number of bullets were recovered at the scene and these were confirmed to be black rounds.

“Parts of a firearm were also found in the area and are being forensically examined.

“Reports also indicate that a number of people were involved in the incident and as such a Section 60 order remains in effect for the Hollington area of ​​St Leonards as of Wednesday night.

“This gives officers the power to search people in this area and we appreciate the public’s support in conducting these searches.

“We are asking the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity to Sussex Police online by calling 101 or speaking to one of our officers in the area.”
