St Leonards pedophile sentenced to 16 years in prison

A pedophile who sexually abused a young girl over a 10-year period has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Gary Nash, 39, of Tower Road, St Leonards, was sentenced at Hove Crown Court, Lansdowne Road.

He admitted to two sexual assaults and an attempt to engage in penetrative sexual activity with a girl under the age of 13.

He was sentenced to a 16-year sentence, of which eight years will be served in prison, with the remaining eight years on an extended license.

He also became the subject of a Prevention of Sexual Harm order and will be a registered sex offender for life.

Detective Sergeant Oliver Bali of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit said: “Nash used his access to the victim to exploit her for his own sexual gratification unbeknownst to anyone else until she finally found the courage to do so earlier this year to express.

“We immediately investigated and quickly arrested Nash, who admitted all of the offences. He would no doubt have insulted her further had she not been very brave in denouncing him.” St Leonards pedophile sentenced to 16 years in prison
