Stacey Solomon reveals changes to the mermaid bathroom

Stacey Solomon gave her fans and followers an up close and personal look at her latest home improvement project as she transformed some discarded plinths into stunning display columns.

The 32-year-old TV star frequently shares photos and videos of her family home, aka Pickle Cottage, and on Sunday she shared videos and photos of her latest renovation project.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Stacey revealed that she had salvaged some cheap wooden bases that her sister had used for some projects and turned them into new makeup display units for her mermaid-themed bathroom.

The star showed up painting and spraying, then added the finished pieces to her bathroom – with everything in place and in time for her to start planning a birthday party for her eldest son.

The mother of four showed off her DIY skills and explained what she was up to.

The footage showed Stacey waving her brush towards two large wooden plinths in her garden.

She said: “My sister had these box things for her balloon things, so I stole them from her because she doesn’t use them anymore. I’ll spice them up and put them in the bathroom.

“She thinks I’m a freak, but trust me; they will look good.”

She captioned the footage and wrote: “I think they will look great in the mermaid bathroom. They may be ridiculous, but it’s worth a try.”

She then shared a montage of herself painting and spray-painting the blocks, and then showed fiancé Joe Swash carrying them into their bathroom – while Stacey and her sister then placed items on top of the boxes.

She wrote: “Okay they’re still a bit wet but I got Joe to bring them up anyway so I can show you so ignore the light/dark spots.”

She gave more details about her recycling project, adding: “These are just made from MDF and sealed. My sister didn’t use them so I thought I’d see if I could get them some. I will also seal mine tomorrow with a waterproof sealer.

“Remember they are still wet and don’t look streaky in the morning. I’ll sand the floors tomorrow too. Also the stone spray turns beige when it dries hard instead of white as it looks now.

“We’re also going to have a shower screen, but I think it’s pretty cool. Maybe I’m crazy.”

She then shared a video of herself examining the finished results and could be heard gasping, “I really love them so much!”

The next morning, she shared another snap of the plinths in all their glory – enjoying a coffee to herself before sorting out birthday parties for her 14-year-old son Zachary.

She wrote: “The plinths look even better in the sunrise. I gotta get my butt going while the boys are at school. Clean up downstairs and set Zach’s birthday table. I hope you are well this morning.”
