Steaua Bucharest owner George “Gigi” Becali believes that footballers who have been vaccinated against Covid should not play for his club anymore because they are “helpless”

The owner of Steaua Bucharest has reportedly banned players who have been vaccinated against Covid word representing Romanian costume.
George “Gigi” Becali confirmed soccer players get vaccinated should not play for Steaua anymore because they are now “helpless” compared to those who refused the stab.
“You’ll laugh, but I might be right,” Becali said, quoted by Daily mail. “People who get vaccinated lose their strength. It’s something of a science.”
Becali went on to mention the form of rivals Rapid Bucharest – who is currently eighth in the Romanian top flight – and CFR Cluj captain Ciprian Deac.
“Didn’t you see it at CFR?” Becali asked. “With Rapid, the players seemed to faint. They slept on the ground. All the vaccinated people lost their strength!
“I also see mine who’s vaccinated. It doesn’t affect some people, but it does affect older people. Haven’t you seen Deac? No more hurricanes.”
Steaua is Romania’s most popular club, beating Terry Venables’ Barcelona on penalties to win the 1986 European Cup.
They have also won the UEFA Super Cup and the domestic league a record 26 times. However, they have not been the champions of Romania, since 2014-15.
Becali has been heavily criticized by the Romanian government for his comments.
“Vaccinated football players do NOT lose strength after being vaccinated against Covid,” reads a statement from Romanian government On Facebook.
“From a medical and scientific point of view, there is no study that supports a singularity like the recent one advertised on the Internet. Facebook account in Romania.
“Vaccinating against Covid does not affect the performance of football players.
“Conversely, there is enough research to show that going through a period of SARS CoV-2 infection leaves long-term sequelae [Long Covid]and these can affect athlete performance.
“The bottom line is simple: to stay healthy, to enjoy football, look to people who believe in science and medicine. Please only inform yourself from trusted, official sources! “
According to the most recent Google data, only 41.6% of the Romanian population has been fully immunized against Covid. This is lower than the global average of 55.8%.

Becali has been a shareholder of Steaua since the late 90s and his administrative career in football has been fraught with controversy.
The former politician served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2009 to 2012 and a Member of the Parliament of Romania from 2012 to 2013.
Becali has previously been accused of racism, xenophobia, homophobia and sexism – insisting Steaua will never have a women’s team in 2018.
“How can a woman play football?” Becali said. “She wasn’t made for football. Her body wasn’t made for football. That’s dangerous.
“Women are made to be beautiful, to attract the opposite sex. We are influencing women by letting them play football or allowing them to box.
“They should play handball, volleyball, basketball, but not aggressive sports.”
