Stephen Bear is being fired by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for the £80k giveaway he launched on Twitter – it’s been tested on whether it’s being fairly administered .

The controversial reality TV star, 32, has faced outrage from the ASA after angry fans accused him of setting up a free hoax after enticing people to sign up his YouTube channel to win big money.

He originally tweeted about the contest on August 25 of last year.

Stephen wrote: “I will give away $100,000 in 24 hours. To participate… 1. Say 3 nice things about me. 2. Like this post. 3. Repost this post. 4. FOLLOW 5 . hashtag“ #internationalplayboy ” after your post comment.”

However, he was later reported to the ASA by the participants, who stated that they “believed the winner was Stephen Bear’s partner”.

The watchdog ruled against the star, who failed to respond to their investigation and showed “clear disregard for [advertising] code”.

The ASA added: “We were not provided with any information about how the promotion was administered, how winners were selected, nor evidence that a $100,000 prize was awarded. “

“We spoke to Stephen Bear to ensure that he administers his promotions fairly in the future, particularly by ensuring that he selected winners according to the laws of chance from the selection team included only valid entries (which met the requirements of the draw) and ensured that he awarded the prizes as described in his marketing communications. This is not the first time Stephen has been warned by the ASA.

He was previously warned about his future conduct in June 2021, after posting three videos to YouTube in February that read: “COMPETITION TIME!!!! DO YOU WANT TO WIN!!!! 10,000 pounds??? Here are the rules. 1. Like this video 2. Subscribe to my channel 3. Guess the correct number of kick ups in the comments.”

However, in the second and third videos, he shows an open briefcase – said to have money inside – and Stephen announces the winner.

But he did not respond to the ASA investigation and the complaint was upheld that the award had not been “fairly administered”.
