Steve is ready for accident.
Hailing from Wollongong, Australia’s steel city, the rising singer-songwriter has some steel of her own.
As a self-taught producer and multi-instrumentalist, he caught the attention of the music industry in these pieces as soon as the pandemic stopped touring.
After three years, and a new chance to prove his mettle on the international stage, through a new global partnership was released today (June 14) by Warner Music Australia and Purple Phase, the Australian label he was first signed to.
The first release through that arrangement was “Crash,” an upbeat and fun figure, accompanied by a self-directed video featuring Christopher Kidallpark, Stevan’s friend.
“Crash” finds a prominent role from Virginia indie artist Tommy Richman and sets up Stevan’s upcoming EP, which will drop in due course.
“I’m super excited to be sharing Crash with everyone,” says Stevan. Billboards, following Wednesday night’s premiere on the triple j network. “I felt the most artistic freedom I’ve ever had, and I feel the music sums up that feeling completely. I am very excited to start a partnership with Purple Phase. It did feel like a family. ”
Purple Phase is the brainchild of brothers Margin, Zaac, Sam and Elliott, from the popular indie rock production The Rubens, along with their managers Greg Carey and Michael Ridgewell.
With the support of Stevan and now from the WMA, the team has high hopes.
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce Stevan as our first signing with Purple Phase,” read a statement. “He caught our attention with his early releases and we have remained followers of his career ever since, even managing to spend weeks on touring together.”
“Crash,” the note continues, “is a perfect example of Stevan’s unrelenting creative energy and progression as an artist/producer, enhanced by its engaging feature. Tommy Richman’s attention.”
Stevan will test ride “Crash” and other pieces when he performs at Splendor in the Grass next weekend in Byron Bay, and on a six-day national tour kicking off August 28 at the guest house. North Wollongong Hotel.
