Steve Lacy takes #1 on Emerging Artists Chart thanks to ‘Bad Habit’ – Billboard

Steve Lacy jump to number 1 on BillboardsThe Emerging Artists Chart (July 23) became the top emerging artist in the US for the first time, thanks to his new single, “Bad Habit”.

The song rose from number 100 to number 50 in its second week on the Billboard Hot 100 with 9.7 million streams in the US (up 82%, good for the chart’s top Streaming Gainer award) for the week. track July 8-14, according to Lighting. The song was the first song on Lacy’s Hot 100 as a solo artist.

“Bad Habit” also peaked at #4 on Hot R&B Songs (after peaking at #3), #5 on both Hot Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs, and #7 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs .

Lacy first appeared on BillboardsThe 2012 chart of the year as a member of The Internet, scored two entries on the Billboard 200 album chart: The death of the ego in 2015 (89th place) and Hive Mind in 2018 (No. 26).

Elsewhere on Emerging Artists, Yung Gravy rose 22-4, breaking into the top five for the first time when his new single “Betty (Get Money)” debuted at number 68 on the Hot 100. She entered the Hot 100 for the first time with an interlude to Rick Astley’s 1988 #1 classic “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

Additionally, Nashville duo Muscadine Bloodline debuted at #6 on Emerging Artists thanks to their breakout single “Me On You”, which peaked at #2 on Country Digital Song Sales and #8 on Digital Song Sales All Genre Graph. The song marks the first entry of the action on Billboardscharts since 2018, when its EP Next reached number 1 on Heatseekers Albums.

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the week’s most popular rising artists, using the same formula as the comprehensive Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboards charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200, and Social 50. (Artist 100 lists the most popular artists, overall, each week.) The Emerging Artists chart, however, excludes those artists who have reached the top 25 on the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists who have reached two or more top 10 positions on the Billboards“Hot” song genre chart and/or “Top” album genre chart based on sales.
