Steven Spielberg Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award at Berlin Film Festival

Steven Spielberg will be honored at the Berlin International Film Festival in February for his work of a lifetime.

Festival organizers said Tuesday that the 75-year-old American director, producer and screenwriter will be awarded the Honorary Golden Bear, the annual event’s highest award, for a work that includes including more than 100 movies and TV series.

The film festival said the work of multiple Oscar winners “is unique in the history of international cinema over the past 60 years for its rich diversity”.

Spielberg’s works include everything from ET the Extra-Terrestrial to Schindler’s List.

The Berlin Film Festival will screen his latest film, The Fabelmans.

Festival co-directors Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian said in a statement: “With an incredible career, Steven Spielberg has not only fascinated generations of viewers worldwide, but has also brought a new meaning to the show. ‘cinema’ as the workshop of dreams.
