Hurricane Franklin was confirmed by the Met Office with an amber warning issued for strong winds and heavy rain.
Storms are set to hit the UK today, with the national forecaster issuing warnings across Northern Ireland.
It comes as Britain continues to dust off after Cyclone Eunice wreaked havoc, with at least four people dead.
Homes, transport links and power lines were affected by Eunice, causing record gusts of 122mph – with thousands still without power.
The Met Office said in a tweet: “The Met Office has named £StormFranklin.
“The storm is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the UK on Sunday and Monday.
“The strongest winds will come in Northern Ireland, where an Amber weather warning has been issued. Stay tuned for WeatherAware.”
Last week, the UK was also bombarded by Cyclone Dudley, after a largely mild start to the winter.
