Storrington residents are rocked by a murder investigation

A MORD probe wreaks havoc on a quiet small country town.

Photos have revealed the agony of local residents after a man was found unconscious in the High Street in Storrington on Sunday morning.

Police responded just after 10am and attempted to revive the 49-year-old, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 68-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of murder.

Local residents said the two men were involved in an argument over a dog.

Pictures from Sunday’s crime scene show a large cordon around a blue police tent with a significant police presence.

A forensics team was also seen yesterday.

Skye, 19, who works at nearby pub The Moon, said: “All we heard were sirens and then a lot of screaming and shouting.”

Trying to give the man privacy, she added, “The next thing I knew I could just see the cops doing CPR.

“The heartbreaking thing is to see them give someone CPR and it didn’t work – I didn’t want to see that.”

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation should contact Sussex Police on number 101 and quote Operation Kingscross.
