A dead 10-foot snake was discovered by street cleaners in a pile of rubbish suspected to be flies.
The creature – understood to be an albino Burmese Python – was found by shocked council workers in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, on Monday morning.
A council spokesman said the snake was most likely a dead and discarded family pet. This species is one of the largest snakes in the world and can grow up to 25ft long.
North East Lincolnshire Council officials have now urged its owner to give up.
John Munson, deputy director of street cleaning, said: “Our work is full of surprises, but this was a complete shock to our team.

“You don’t come to work Monday morning expecting to find a giant snake thrown behind a fence.
“None of us muster up the courage to fully unravel it, but it looks huge and weighs a bit.”
The official said the snake felt “very heavy” and the animal’s owner was currently hunting.
In 2020, a 6-foot-long snake was found by council workers in the town.
Councilmember Ron Shepherd wants the dead animal’s owners to come forward and make them known.
He said: “We wanted to speak to the snake’s owner so we could learn more about how it was caught by a fly in Grimsby.
“Someone has to know where it’s coming from. We all have a legal obligation, or duty of care, to make sure our waste is disposed of properly.”
Yesterday, a homeowner told how he found a giant 7-foot-long snake along with another live and two dead snakes, as well as a scorpion and a cobra, after evict tenants.
Landlord Phil Tewkesley, 47, made the shocking findings after he was able to get rid of occupants who he claims have refused to go for months.
When he was finally able to enter the bungalow, he found it full of garbage, including four snakes – two dead and two alive – fish, bugs crawling on the carpet and even a scorpion and tarantula, report LancsLive.
