Street Fighter 6: Controversial logo could be a modified stock image

Controversial logo for 6 . street fighter bear similarities to Adobe Stock images. The creator of the stock image told IGN that they wanted to exclusively sell it to Capcom.

As first pointed out by Ars Technica’s Aurich Lawson (below), the Street Fighter 6 logo bears a striking resemblance to the logo design available through Adobe Stock Image Stock, is available with an extended license for $80 and is made by a user named xcoolee.

The design is available as an Adobe Illustrator file, which means changes to the original file can be easily made – and the Adobe Stock license allows for modification in commercial use. The design appears to have been used publicly before, with (as Twitter uses 100Jibie indicate) another modified version apparently used as a symbol for SF Connexion Science Fiction Conference in France

Speaking to IGN, xcoolee confirmed that it had created the Adobe Stock image and revealed that it was looking to sell the image exclusively to Capcom, while removing it for sale to other parties. We’ve reached out to Capcom for comment on the similarities in xcoolee’s designs and sales offers.

Even if this turned out to be a genuine endorsement, the new logo design did not receive as much acclaim as it should have. The old Street Fighter 6 was announced on February 21, and the reveal of its logo immediately caused controversy among fans, many of whom found the change to appear to be from Street Fighter series vivid text logo to a rough monochrome style rather than disappointing.

It’s unclear if the new logo is meant to be a placeholder, and we asked Capcom to clarify that as well.

After a leak in 2020, and a countdown last week, Street Fighter 6 was announced with a pre-roll trailer (above), showing off Ryu and Luke’s new fighters. More information will come this summer.
