John Whaite has a special rule in the bedroom that strengthens his relationship with his partner.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, who worked with Johannes Radebe on last year’s show, has been candid about his romance with Paul lately and shared another way the pair have been trying to make their relationship even stronger.
During an appearance on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, John was debating his relationship troubles with presenter Steph McGovern and Vogue Williams when Steph asked the chef if he liked cuddling with Paul, who he has been engaged to since 2017.
“WHO?” He quipped before adding: “No, we just introduced a new rule that our phone chargers have to be across the bedroom. You don’t go to your phone in the morning, you have to snuggle up to each other.”
He admitted it didn’t work, adding, “It’s dying out, it doesn’t really work.”
It comes after John – who met partner Paul on Facebook in 2008 – admitted that “growing apart” has actually made the couple stronger.
“I think independence — financial independence, social independence, independence in every shape and form — is key in a relationship. To a successful relationship, I think,” he said on a recent episode of the Channel 4 show.
“When I first got together with Paul we were quite intertwined and entangled and these days we’ve grown more distant from each other and more independent within ourselves and I think it strengthens the relationship, I think and hope.”
During Strictly, John and Johannes were subjected to rumors of their closeness, but at the time fiancé Paul insisted he wasn’t worried about the infamous curse after seeing the couple rehearse together.
“If you could see him at the end of the day after a full day of rehearsals, he can barely walk, leaving no room for anything else. He crawls through the door at the end of the day,” shared Paul.
While John himself added: “When you spend that much time with someone, you see warts and everything. I think I burped in Johannes’ face – I might even have farted at one point. There’s no attraction because you see sweat and all.”
