Student calls Gardaí “pigs”

A UNIVERSITY student has been arrested after calling Gardaí “stupid pigs” during a street riot.
Oseph Johnston, 22, was upset after a random attack on a friend by passers-by when he started swearing at officers, a court heard.
Judge Bryan Smyth adjourned the case at Dublin District Court and said he would leave him unconvicted if he made a £250 charity contribution.
Johnston of Philipsburgh Avenue, Fairview, pleaded guilty to threatening, abusive and abusive conduct and failure to follow orders from Garda.
Dublin District Court heard the incident took place on Queen Street on May 29 last year.
The court heard a Garda was on duty when the accused approached and insulted him. Johnston mentioned gardaí as “useless cats and stupid pigs” refused to stop and was arrested.
The defendant was out on a night when his friend was indiscriminately attacked and he was upset about it, defense attorney Daniel Hanahoe said.
Johnston was a freshman in college and worked part-time at a grocery store. The judge adjourned the case until May.
