Students enjoy an internship day at Hove Legal and General

The STUDENTS got a lot of attention when they tried their hand at beekeeping, investing and speed dating.

A group of Year 10 students from Hove Park School took the opportunity to attend an internship day at the Legal and General Financial Services Group in Hove.

At a speed dating event, the nine prospective employees got to know employees of the company and learned as much as possible about the role in a short time.

They then caught up with Legal and General’s resident beekeeper, Ian White, to learn how the hives at Hove Park are doing wonders for biodiversity in the area.

Jo Roberts, teacher at Hove Park School, said: “Our students absolutely loved being part of their work encounter.

“They all took away so much from it, but highlights for me were definitely the exercise where they had to think about where to invest and the speed dating — and of course the bees.”

The event was part of Legal and General’s diversity and inclusion activities – and included the opportunity for students to learn more about apprenticeships within the company.

Kully Bilkhu, Legal and General’s Diversity and Inclusion Director, said: “It is important to us to raise awareness of the early career opportunities within Legal and General’s retail division to highlight the diverse career opportunities that we have.

“The event was a great way to demonstrate this while also giving the students a taste of what it would be like to work specifically in the Legal and General’s Hove office.”

One of the students said, “We really enjoyed it. We really enjoyed speed dating because we got to know many different jobs.” Students enjoy an internship day at Hove Legal and General
