A stunned woman discovered her dead grandmother’s face in a cloud while cleaning out her old house.

Natalie Doig, 30, believes Gwendoline Shorter “looked down from heaven on her family”.

87-year-old Gwendoline’s loved ones were devastated when she died of breast cancer last year.

Mum-of-two Natalie couldn’t believe her eyes and snapped a photo of the formation on her phone, confident she could see her face and hairline in the clouds.

Natalie said: “I was like ‘wow’. It was so unreal. It was symbolic.

“It was like saying, ‘You’re doing the right thing,’ as she was cleaning the house. We had to make decisions.

“I think Grandma looked at us all from heaven.

“There’s always someone with you, I think. My grandmother always believed in it too.”

Natalie, from Thurmaston, Leicestershire, said the sighting helped her family mourn the retired school cook, who had nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, the reports star.

She added, “We all called her ‘the queen of our family.’

“She was the glue that held us all together. She would do anything for any of us in the family.

“She got really, really bad and it was quite difficult.

“That was the first moment she contacted us after her death. It was like she was still with us.

“It felt like she was there, watching over us from up there.

“She was lovely. She was a huge royal fan and absolutely loved the Queen and the royal family.”

Natalie, who has two young sons, added: “When we first saw it, we immediately saw her face and took the picture.

“We came home and zoomed in, we even noticed it had her hairline and hairstyle.

“It was more of her in her younger days than later, but it was fantastic. She was here.”

Scientists have studied the phenomenon known as pareidolia, in which people see faces or familiar shapes in clouds or inanimate objects.

But they are divided over its cause.

Some suspect this is because the human brain is wired from birth to recognize faces, others believe it is due to our brain’s desire to attach meaning to random images.
